So this semester started off STRONGLY! It seems like class readings doubled, and therefore social life/free time has slightly dimished... however I have still been taking the time to enjoy myself a bit, so here are a couple of pictures from two great nights out with two great friends!

Today I miss home and I feel like wearing something cozy, which is what this outfit is to me. I had a wonderful Christmas holiday with my lovely family, boyfriend, and friends, and that is making it harder to be back in my little apartment in a (seemingly) faraway city for a new semester.

All the outfit needs is a colourful purse... and a long pearl necklace...

It has been a REALLY long time since my last post - I gave up on blogging for a little while! But I'm back! I've started a stressful program in school and I'm in need of a de-stresser... turns out, that de-stresser is going to be blogging here and there, whenever I feel like I need a break from my studying (probably more often than not...)!

I've been severely lacking in inspiration lately (big move to a new city, where I have been feeling completely outside of the fashion world!), so I'm hoping this will also get me back on track in that sense.

I had an incredible week with my family in Turks & Caicos - the island where we stayed was so so beautiful, as you can see! We even got the whole family out in the water taking kite boarding lessons! We stayed in a very secluded area and woke up to quiet mornings on the patio drinking coffee and chatting. The people that we met were so welcoming, and the places we visited were unbelievable!

It's been a little while since my last post - things have been a bit hectic over the holidays! Clays family drove to the city to spend a few days with us, since I wasn't able to get enough time off work to drive back to our hometown. I was sad to spend another Christmas away from my family (last year I was still in Europe!) but Clay's family made the holidays so great! We had a cozy few days full of baileys on ice (delicious), long games of scrabble, holiday movies (Home Alone 1 and 2!), and so much good food!

So aside from that, I have also felt in the last few weeks that I have lost my inspiration a bit... I spent several mornings in front of my packed closet with no idea what to wear or how to wear it. It turns out, what I really needed was a few small additions to that closet! I've recently acquired some vintage-y looking long necklaces and large rings, a couple of large chunky scarves, an amazingly comfortable chunk knit cardigan sweater, some just-above-the-ankle-high boots, AND finally, some gorgeous distressed brown leather brogues... okay, I may have gone a little overboard, but there were some great Boxing Day sales around here! Needless to say, these new acquisitions have helped my inspiration to resurface, and I am happy to feel that way again!

Also new: I've finally completed my law school applications (with the exception of one) and round two of the LSAT, so the waiting game has begun! My long to-do list is slowly diminishing, and that is something to be happy about! From now on, I'm looking forward to having days off to relax and job search, to explore this new city that I'm living in, and to spend some quality time with my man!

Finally, we are now apartment shopping... so the photos in this post will be dedicated to some different, interesting or beautiful shots of apartments from Apartment Therapy.

Okay, I cannot believe it, but... I BAKED BREAD ROLLS!!! This may not seem like a great accomplishment to anybody, but if you know me and my history with cooking or baking, you will know that it is NOT extensive!!! However, since I am currently unemployed, filling in law school applications, and studying for the LSAT on a day-to-day basis, I spend a lot of time at home!

I found this recipe for Pretzel Rolls, although I substituted whole wheat flour because I didn't have any unbleached white flour. (Also, accidentally used 2 tablespoons of sugar instead of 2 teaspoons... but didn't seem to cause any major problems!)

I had a wonderful time in Morocco and Portugal, where I was on a two week bonding trip with my older brother (and, of course, practicing what I do best: escapism from my school work!). It was two weeks of go-go-go, but I had a blast and managed to FINALLY get a bit of sun on my skin!

Now, one week left until I hand in my Masters dissertation - I cannot believe how quickly this year has flown by. It's going to be so bitter sweet... I'll feel overjoyed to finally hand in the piece of work I have been completing for the past 4 months, but pathetically miserable at the thought of leaving all the great people I have met this year!

However, to make ourselves feel just a little bit better (okay, a LOT better), I will be flying with three great friends to CRETE for one week before we separate to our respective 'next chapter' !

London in 23 hours! A couple of weeks ago, I had to take the train down to London to write an exam, and I was lucky enough to have my gorgeous man accompany me! Clay has been living in the UK for about 6 weeks now, and even though we're living together it feels like we don't spend enough quality time together - he spends so many hours a week working, and I'm constantly stressed about my own dissertation work - so it was so nice to escape it all for a day and to just enjoy being together and to explore this dynamic city!

GO SOUTH AFRICA!!!

As I'm sure you all know, the FIFA World Cup recently kicked off in South Africa! The team, called Bafana Bafana (which translates to Boys Boys) had their first game against Mexico over the weekend, and tied 1-1. For the big occasion, some of my South African friends were getting together to paint overalls with the SA flag, so I decided to become an honorary member for the day! We spent a couple hours on Friday morning painting the overalls (which I think are pretty amazing!), then spent the rest of the afternoon and early evening at a local outdoor pub to watch the game! Just another great day in Edinburgh :)

I've learned so much about South Africa this year, and have come to love so many things about this country that I've never been to! The South Africans that I have met here are so passionate about their home and their people (and their football!). The next game is tomorrow night against Uruguay, so cross your fingers and wish them luck!!!

My mum came to visit me! It was so wonderful to have her here, and to be able to spend quality time with her again! I can't believe I hadn't seen her since September - my year abroad has been flying by so quickly, I just wish I could slow time down a bit. We had (mostly) good weather while she was here, but it never seems to last in this city! I have to say, though - I think the rapid changes in weather make me appreciate the sunny days so much more!
